Common issues

What's usually wrong.

Tell us the symptom — we'll narrow it down in chat and send a tech with the right parts.

  • Won't drain at end of cycle

Clogged drain pump filter, kinked drain hose, or a failed pump impeller.

  • Won't spin

Failed lid switch (top-load), broken drive belt, motor coupling, or an unbalanced load tripping the safety.

  • Door / lid won't unlock

Door-lock sensor failure on front-load units, or a stuck interlock on top-load.

  • Leaking onto the floor

Worn door seal (front-load), failed inlet hose, or a cracked drain pump housing.

  • Loud during spin

Worn tub bearings, failed shock absorbers, or a coin / button caught between drum and outer tub.

  • Won't start at all

Failed door switch, control board fault, or no power to the outlet.

How we fix it

From your call to your warranty.

Same flow on every visit — no surprises.

  1. Diagnose

Tech arrives, runs through the symptom on-site, and identifies the failed part — drain pump, drive belt, lid switch, control board, or seal.

  2. Quote

You get a firm price for parts plus labour before any work starts. You approve or decline.

  3. Repair

Most washer repairs are completed on the first visit — drain pumps, lid switches, belts, and door seals are stocked on the truck.

  4. Test

Tech runs a full wash + spin cycle and confirms the fix before leaving. We don't bill until the appliance works.

  5. Warranty

1 year on parts and labour. If the same issue comes back, we come back at no cost.

Frequently asked questions

If yours isn't here, call 416-436-3182 or start a chat.

How fast can a technician arrive for a broken washer?

Most GTA cities, same day or next day. Emergencies (washer flooding the floor) get priority — in Toronto core and inner suburbs we usually have a tech at your door in 2–4 hours. Call 416-436-3182 or email info@appliancescitywide.com and we'll quote a real arrival window before you book.

Why won't my washer drain at the end of the cycle?

Almost always a clogged drain pump filter (front-load) or a kinked drain hose. Coins, hair clips, and small socks are the usual culprits. Sometimes the pump impeller itself has failed. Start a chat with the brand and the symptom and we'll narrow it down before sending a tech.

Is it worth repairing a 10-year-old washer?

Sometimes. We use the 50% rule — if the repair is more than half the cost of a comparable new washer (and the unit is past its 10-year average useful life), replacing is usually the smarter call. ACW Rob will walk you through the numbers honestly before you book.

Do you service front-load and top-load washers?

Yes — every major brand and configuration. Front-load door-seal failures and top-load lid-switch faults are the two most common calls; both are fixable in a single visit on most brands.

What if my washer is still under manufacturer warranty?

Tell us the brand and the serial number when you call — we'll check whether the manufacturer covers in-warranty repair through their authorized network or through us. If they don't cover it, we'll quote our own repair so you can compare.
