Common issues

What's usually wrong.

Tell us the symptom — we'll narrow it down in chat and send a tech with the right parts.

  • Electric burner won't heat

Failed surface element, cracked element receptacle, or a burned-out infinite switch in the control.

  • Burner heats unevenly

Warped surface element, poor contact at the element receptacle, or a failed thermostat sensor on a temperature-limited burner.

  • Burner stuck on high

Failed infinite switch — contacts welded closed. Unsafe: stop using the burner and pull the range breaker until repaired.

  • Control panel unresponsive

Failed control board, blown thermal fuse, or no power to the appliance circuit.

  • Indicator lights don't match burner state

Failed indicator LEDs, broken switch detents, or a control-board output stage that's partially failed.

  • Burner cycles on and off rapidly

Failed infinite switch, overheated safety thermostat, or undersized element for the cookware load.

How we fix it

From your call to your warranty.

Same flow on every visit — no surprises.

  1. Diagnose

Tech inspects the surface elements, tests element resistance with a multimeter, checks the infinite switches and receptacles, and identifies the failed part.

  2. Quote

You get a firm price for parts plus labour before any work starts. You approve or decline.

  3. Repair

Most electric stove repairs complete on the first visit — surface elements, infinite switches, and receptacles are stocked on the truck.

  4. Test

Tech tests every burner at multiple settings and confirms safe operation before leaving.

  5. Warranty

1 year on parts and labour. If the same issue comes back, we come back at no cost.

Frequently asked questions

If yours isn't here, call 416-436-3182 or start a chat.

Do you repair gas stoves?

No — we service electric stoves only. If you have a gas stove, call a licensed gas technician. We're happy to recommend one if you don't already have a contact.

How fast can a technician arrive for a broken stove?

Most GTA neighbourhoods, same day or next day. Unsafe situations (burner stuck on high, sparking, burning smell) get priority. Call 416-436-3182 or email info@appliancescitywide.com and we'll quote a real arrival window before you book.

Is it worth repairing a 12-year-old electric stove?

Often yes. Stoves and ranges have a 13-15 year average useful life; common electric-stove repairs (surface element, infinite switch, receptacle) run well below the 50% rule threshold. Higher-end induction or smart-controlled units are more borderline; ACW Rob will walk you through the math when you call.

What if my stove is still under manufacturer warranty?

Tell us the brand and the serial number when you call — we'll check whether the manufacturer covers in-warranty repair through their authorized network or through us. If they don't cover it, we'll quote our own repair so you can compare.

My burner is stuck on high — what do I do right now?

Pull the range breaker at the panel if you can, or unplug the unit at the wall. A burner stuck on high is a fire risk and should not be used. Call 416-436-3182 and we'll prioritise the visit.
